The true harvest of life is intangible...it is in the tints of the morning and evening...it is in the stardust caught...a segment of the rainbow.

A NEW BAG FROM OLD LACE DOILIES

I have been collecting lovely old crocheted doilies for some time to use in various projects. I have lots that were my grandmother's and mothers' which I can't bring myself to cut up, but I have been buying them from Garage Sales and Charity stores and am more easily able to disect them to use in projects. I made this bag for myself and took it out for the first time yesterday and I've already had a couple of people wanting me to make them one. I don't like having to have a list of orders to make, it takes away the enjoyment and spontenaiety,so I will get around to it when I feel so inclined. It is really light and easy to use, I'm really happy with it.

I know what you mean about taking orders and making things on demand. I feel the same as you, especially since I retired. It is a lovely bag and I love doilies.

Wow, it's fabulous. I clicked to enlarge and the detail in the doilies is awesome. The way you placed everything makes a new lace altogether. i love it. you should make a few in your leasure and post on etsy, then send the people who asked you to make them one a link to etsy. Then they can pick and the stress is off so the fun is in (for you and them).

Love it Rob. I know what you mean about using your mother's, grandmother's doilies though! I guess I won't put my name on the list of those who would like you to make them one!!!! I hate the pressure too. See you soon!!!!!

This is just so pretty and I love the fact you re-purpose such beautiful items. I often do the same - it's a lovely feeling just imagining the people who might have made them and what their life was like. I am not surprised you have people wanting such a beautiful bag.
